Turning the Volume Up on Catcalling Awareness
Catcalling is a rampant issue in the Philippines, with 3 out of 5 women experiencing sexual harassment. To tackle this, the Macho Choir campaign reimagined childhood nursery rhymes with powerful anti-harassment messages. What began as a radio campaign quickly evolved into an integrated movement featuring illustrated lyric videos, a digital hub, and social media tools to raise awareness, educate, and enable easy reporting. With bold, cartoon visuals and neon colors, the campaign effectively reached a young, mobile audience, making the message shareable and memorable.
The Macho Choir campaign website became a powerful digital hub designed to empower and engage. It gave users the ability to download and share the campaign’s lyric videos and graphic lyric posts for social media, ensuring the message spread quickly across platforms. Moreover, the website featured a simple and accessible report tool, enabling victims and witnesses of catcalling to easily report incidents with a tap-to-dial function that connected them directly to the authorities. By making reporting easy and sharing resources intuitive, the website became a one-stop shop for activism, education, and direct action. The integration of cultural elements like a custom font inspired by jeepney signage also added a local touch, making the website even more relatable to Filipinos. The campaign wasn’t just about raising awareness—it was about making a real, measurable difference.

Through creative execution and bold storytelling, the Macho Choir campaign transformed the way we talk about catcalling—creating a space for awareness, education, and most importantly, action.
